The family.

There’s an unseen thread that runs through most of these reflections and ponderings I’ve been dumping out of my head this past week, and that is family.  Without the family…the food, the friends, the farm…they aren’t the same experience.

The farm.

Growing up in “the city”, any time I was able to go somewhere that was a little more off the grid, I loved it.  One such place was my grandparents’ farm.  If I ever need to “go to my happy place”, well, this would be it.

Food and 50

I have written before about how important music is in my life, and I’m sure there will be a post about it coming later this week.
But if there’s any other thing that I can look back at and say has had a pretty powerful impact on me these past 50 years, that thing…for good and bad…has been food. So I reckon I should talk a little about it.

Headed South

Today’s post isn’t about trying to unravel any life mysteries or solve any big problems.  Today was more of a reflective day, as I found myself thinking about how things change and thinking back on some good times made with some good friends over the course of these near-50 years.

7 to 50

A week from today, I will turn 50.  I’m not really having any sort of big crisis about it (yet), but it got me to thinking today about maybe taking a little time each day between now and then and writing down a few thoughts I’m pondering on as I approach the mid-century mark.
