The Fiftieth.

Well, the big day has arrived.

The drink?  There may be many

The music? Also likely to be quite varied, but here is my 50 playlist.

First off, I want to take a minute to thank every single one of you who took the time over this past week to read what I was writing and to react to it or leave comments.  I have appreciated every single one of them.

The idea came to me last Friday as I was sitting and thinking about how I needed to start writing again and how it was only a week until I turned 50.  As much as anything, it was an exercise for me to get back in to the process of putting content together on a more regular basis and take stock of the past 50 years, but the fact that so many of you joined in on the journey was moving and made it fun for me, even if it did make me a little nervous to open up like that.  So thank you…thank you all.

If there is one piece missing from the past week’s posts, and there is, it is that beautiful lady in that picture right up there.  For the first 30-some years of my life, I was not exactly “lucky at love”, and when I made the decision to move back to West Liberty, I figured well…that’s it.  I will probably end up being alone the rest of my life, living out my days as a hermit somewhere in Morgan County. And I was OK with that.

Much to my surprise, however, was her.  Being here.  And us. Finding each other.

Every day since, all of the things I have written about over the past week…all of the things that make me ME…I have been able to be ALL of those things with her, because she loves every part of who that person is.  Well, except maybe the messy, procrastinating part…I have a feeling that’s not her favorite part.

She impacts my life every single day, birthday or not, and I love her for it all.

So as for the Birthday itself, today may end up being one of the most different of all the birthdays up until now, aside from it being number 50. Normally, I like to take the day off from work, do as little as possible, and cap it off with a good meal somewhere with Beck and my family.  Well, this one is gonna be with family, alright…a whole LOT of family.

My cousin Savannah is getting married today, and I wanted to be there to celebrate this day with a cousin who is so special to me.  And so on my 50th, I am going to be at a big party that is dedicated to love and will be surrounded by family, food, drinks, and music…some of my most favorite things!!

How can it get much better than that??
